Modellers of Antique
The roots of the Rech family are firmly embedded in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains of Italy. Agostino and Attilio Rech, founders of Modellers, were born at the turn of the 19th century in Feltre, in the district of Belluno, Venice, the heart of Italy. The Rech family have been carpenters or artists of the wood, as the Italians have called it, for over 5 generations. In the snowy topped Dolomite mountains, Agostino and Attilio Rech at the young age of 12, would work with their farther Silvio Rech, in the workshop to make beautiful pieces of furniture, art and doors. The little boys would watch and assist their farther to build, paint and carve these magnificent works of creation. Making a door has become a symbolic family tradition. It represents the passing down of a rare and soon forgotten trade, from one generation to the next . It is a right of passage for the next generation that is only done when that generation has become worthy of the title “Master Artisan”.
